Painful Secrets: Chapter Two

Chapter Two:

"Professor? Professor!" Miyagi jumped, startled out of his thoughts by Kamijou calling his name.

"What is it, Kamijou?" The younger man sighed.

"I was going to ask you something, but I've figured it out now. Now I want to know what the hell is wrong with you." Kamijou crossed his arms, glaring at Miyagi sternly. Miyagi sighed.

"I was just thinking about something, don't worry about it." Kamijou's frown deepened.

"You've been lost in thought all day, which is unlike you. What's wrong?" Miyagi looked out the window, resting his chin on his hand.

"I'm just worried about someone..."

"Who, Shinobu?" Miyagi looked up at Kamijou, shocked.

"How the hell did you know!" Kamijou blinked, slightly confused by the older man's reaction.

"He seems to be acting a bit different lately. I saw him earlier today, he seemed kind of jumpy and nervous, almost scared. You didn't notice?" Miyagi gaped at Kamijou for a moment before looking down.

"I didn't notice until last night." He mumbled, feeling his face heat up a little.

"Really? Hm, you should pay more attention to him." Kamijou remarked, sitting at his desk and turning his chair around so he was facing Miyagi. The older man frowned, starting to get lost in thought again. His eyes widened suddenly, his face paling. Kamijou tilted his head, confused.

"What if I'm the reason he's like this! Did I do something stupid again and traumatize him! I mean, it wouldn't be the first time. The first time I did it on purpose though... but that's not the point! I mean, I don't remember doing anything that could have hurt him, but maybe I did it unconsciously. What am I going to do!" Miyagi held his head in his hands, panicking.

"Hey, calm down. I'm sure you didn't do anything. Besides, even though you did traumatize him before, he got over it. So it can't have been anything you did." Kamijou couldn't help feeling slightly irritated by the professor's irrational thinking.

"I guess you're right..." Miyagi sighed, slouching in his seat.

"So, do you have any ideas of anything else that may have happened to him?" Miyagi groaned.

"I'm not with him twenty-four seven, how would I know? He never tells me anything bad that happens to him, unless I'm the one who's done it." Kamijou thought for a moment.

"I'll ask Nowaki if he had any ideas about what might be wrong. In the mean time, you should try asking Shinobu about it. But be gentle about it, you won't get anywhere if you're harsh and appear uncaring." Kamijou stood up, starting to pack his work into his bag. Miyagi's eyes widened.

"Hold on, I have to let him know I'm worried about him?" Kamijou sighed, shaking his head.

"Of course you do, idiot. He won't tell you anything if you're being cold about it. He has to be able to trust you one hundred percent. So be kind, gentle and caring for a change." Kamijou gave Miyagi a look the had 'idiot' written all over it. Miyagi slightly cringed away from the look as Kamijou left the room. Miyagi sighed, now left alone to deal with his thoughts by himself.
